ZeroTolerance's Playstation Section

Tuesday, July 6 1999

I have now posted two new reviews in the review section.  Ape Escape and Need For Speed High Stakes.  I hope you enjoy them!   Not much going on lately because Sony is still tight lipped on the PS2.  Still no official name or system design this is kinda crazy if ya ask me.  I hope that Sony is planning on an announcement soon because there are so many followers of Sony now that if they screw up it is gonna cost them!  That is about all I have to ramble about tonight, be sure to check back tomorrow as I continue to post reviews constantly, as for now this is ZT sayin see-ya!

Somebody say it with me...STOP MESSIN AROUND SONY! Sorry had to say it, Sony has been toying and toying around for the past three months with the announcement of the PS2. They have been running the same freakin tech demos and still no games.(and dont even try to pull that 30-sec crap demo of Gran Turismo) That is not going to be a real game. This is seriously urking me. I mean at E3 Sega had almost 50 or so games and Sony had one tech demo. I know you are saying well the system isnt out yet, but remember Sony has promised a release in Japan before March 2000!! If this is true where are the screen shots, where are the demos??? I cant wait to see this technological terror but dammit show me the games not the hardware. The next few years in gaming are gonna be interesting to say the least, stay tuned as ZT covers the agony...ohhhh heehee c-ya!

Oh well I have posted a review of Silent Hill (better late than never eh?), but hopefully my faithful companion Kaiokenattack is writing me some stuff right now. More to come and more on the way check back soon as your buddy ZT begins the new page design in full effect! As for now this is ZT sayin LATAH!

They can be viewed HERE! So give them a look and hopefully the page will see some work soon, as for now this is ZT sayin c-ya!

Playstation 2 Playstation 2! Playstation 2!! can you see a pattern here??? Well since the announcement of the specs and the official release dates for the PS2 that is all I have been hearing about! It is insane here at the offices, people throwing fits because they cant play it yet. Sony is back and this time going for high specs and major hardware! Their new system is absolutely stunning on paper and in action. So far there have been six demos released to the public and they are just wonderful eye-candy. The big question is though how many developers are actually signed up so far? Well my sources say that Konami, Squaresoft, Namco, Enix, and From Software are the first ones on the list. The next big issue is how in the world are these companies going to get games ready for a December release in Japan?? These questions still remain unanswered, and until Sony officially announces some titles or gets us some screen shots we can only speculate. I hope Sony does the right thing and doesnt concentrate solely on hardware this time. The N64 suffered a defeat to Sony because of this very issue and Sony does not need to do the same. I have only great expectations for the PS2 and hope to see it flourish. I shall report back any new news that I hear in the next few months about Sony's next big console, but as for now this is ZT sayin c-ya!

With yesterdays news some people may still be shocked that the PS2 boasts 55 million polygons per second, but in an interview with the creators of Re-Boot they explained a new type of technology called "Bezier", this uses rounded-curved surfaces rather than traditional polygons. Pics of this can be seen here in examples of polygons versus bezier.  The diagram shows two models, one of polygons and one of bezier design. Also the FF8 translation is out on the net and shall be posted here as soon as I get a copy of it here at my offices. The translation so far is only for the first 10 hrs of gameplay and will be continued. That is about all for now so check back soon for more juicy gossip this is ZT sayin later!

Wednesday, Feb.17 1999

With two days into the new changes the page has been seeing quite a bit of my handy work. I hope all of my readers are pleased with the changes, I only give what people want to see. The PS section is rapidly growing as it should be with reviews and info. Look tomorrow for a preview of Final Fantasy VIII from our very own Gambus Kahn! He is my main RPG guy and will get that preview to me and I will get it to you as soon as it is in my hands. Sony has announced that its next system will be able to push 55 million polygons per second! Did you hear me right? I said 55 million! This is of course without effects, which as of right now Dreamcast can push 6 million without effects and Voodoo3 boasting roughly 9 million. This said Sony must be crazy eh? Well they annouced that their new system will have dual-chipset that can pull this feat off will shall see indeed. In FF VIII news, Sony has reported that the game has sold roughly 2.5 million copies in five days!! This is an incredible number, considering the fact that over 2 million were pre-sales, 500,000 to walk-ins in five days sure isn't bad. There is already a translation of FF VIII out and it is incredible, it makes importing it one step closer to my collection. Also the rumor that FF 8 will not play on modded systems is true, however it has already been hacked. The Game Shark Code Creators Club has a Gameshark code that will allow the game to be played on any system that is modded, step two of importing. FF8 contains 4 cd's and has a price tag of $72.50, this isnt bad but I may wait until it drops in price a little bit. Well also in the works are two sequels to two of 1998's most intriguing games, first off is a sequel to Rugrats by THQ. Not much is known about it now but we shall keep you posted. the other is a sequel to one of the best 2-D fighters on the PS, Guilty Gear. Hopefully they will tone down the difficulty and add more characters! That is about all for now be sure to check back here for your up-to-the-minute news straight from ZT's Game Domain, this is ZT saying later.

Ok, now this page is up and going, so far I plan to leave most of this section up to my colleague Gambus Kahn. Most of the time though it will see my handy work, heehee. but anyway This section will contain news and reviews of the greatest system of the 90's. Well be sure to check back real soon as my new page design takes full effect!
