Bomberman Fantasy Race Sony Playstation 1-2 players Analog and Sual Shock Compatible The Bomberman series has been around for many years now, and there are many devoted fans who have enjoyed bombing the crap out of each other. The whole franchess of Bomberman is very successful, and with any successful video game franchises there needs to be a Mario Kart styled racing game, hell, even Crash Bandicoot is taking that route. May I introduce to you, Bomberman Fantasy Race!! So how does this newest kart racing game compare to the others, in a word, AVERAGE. Actually below-average would be a better way of putting it. The game starts off with a nice anime/CGI mixed intro, a few cutesy japanese voices are yelled, and the T.V. screen is filled with lots of brightly colored graphics (like an epsode of Pokemon, OH MY GOD). Yes the eye-candy is quite nice with each track being filled with lots of trippy and sometimes mechanical objects that seem to explode off of the screen. Unfortunately, the game lacks when it comes to gameplay. Like most racing games these days, Bomberman forces you to make make monney by racing against several other contestants. Unlike most racing games, your racing vehicles are big hairy looking creatures that sometimes resemble rabbits. The racing engine is where the game really lacks, because it seemed liked it was quickly rushed. For example, most of the competitors in a giving race will all seem to hang around each other in the area on a track, making it difficult you to achieve a high placing since they all gang-up on you. Simply put, this game requires a player to be an expert from the start and a little bit of luck would also be nice. Overall, this game is alright if you plain on spending alot of time being quite upset with a racing games unfair tactics, but hey it has nice graphics and it's a Bomberman game, YEAHH!!!! Personally, I'll just go back to playing Mario Kart on the SNES, perhaps Chocobo Racing will be better??? Graphics--8.5 Sound--8 Control--6.5 Replay--7.5 OVERALL--7 By Gambus Kahn |
