News Story:Dreamcast Official Release Detail
By:ZeroTolerance
Well it was only a matter of time before Sega announced their plans for the US release of the DC. I was expecting it to come at this year's E3, but low an behold it comes a month earlier! Sega has officially announced that the DC will be released on September 9 1999. For the suggested retail price of $199. It also plans to release a lower priced system that does not include the modem, this may be a bad option since online gaming is one of DC's main pluses. I am sure most smart gamers will purchase the modem knowing full well that it is worth the extra dough. The modem is also going to recieve an upgrade from it's Japanese counterpart. It will be a 56k for the US release as opposed to the 33.6 for the Japanese version. There will also be an abundance of release titles including the likes of Mortal Kombat Gold, Soul Calibur, Sonic Adventure, and Virtua Fighter 3, just to name a few. There are going to be a total of 12-20 titles available upon release and tons of first party stuff for the holidays. I feel that the DC will be a huge success among gamers, it has the tools to become a great system as long as Sega does it right this time. I mean the games are fun as hell to play and the graphics are definitely light years ahead of the current systems. I know most people are probably saying "I am gonna wait for the PS2", well go ahead and do that while I enjoy gaming NOW! I hope US gamers will give Sega the chance they deserve, because the DC is a great system. I will deliver more news as the arrival of the US DC nears. I will also be reporting back everything I hear at this year's E3 convention. I am hoping Sega will have tons of goodies for me to sample this year. That is about all for now, this is your old buddy ZT sayin ciao!
