ZeroTolerance's E3 Dreamcast Section Well the system everyone was wondering about has finally been given some official details and games. E3 belonged to Sega definitely, with tons of games and announcements. The system's US release has been confirmed with a price of $199 packed with the 56k modem. No games are scheduled to be packed with the system, but there are so far 13 titles ready for launch. ZT got to check some of these out here are some first thoughts and honorable mentions. NFL Football 2000--With the popularity of sports games it was indefinite that Sega would have some ready for launch. NFL Football 2000 is in a word amazing, the graphics are the best yet seen on any system. The controls are top-notch and the feel of the game overall is incredible. I didnt have a chance to try out the VMU with the plays and defensive strategies, but I played at least one full game and I am highly impressed. The facial expressions of the players are just amazing and the animation is beautiful. I cant wait to see the looks on sports game fans when they see this! NBA Basketball 2000--While impressive looking this game lacks some realism. I mean the score we had at the end of the first quarter was unheard of. Scoring is the main part of the game and defense is lacking. I hope this is remedied before release, but even if it isnt the game is worth a look. The graphics make anything currently out look like 16-bit! Lets hope the play of the game is improved, but nonetheless impressive! Ready To Rumble Boxing--This was probably the funnest game of the entire show. We played this several times and could not put it down. Me and my buddies played this one all three days of the show. I cannot wait until this game comes out, it is basically number one on my list since I already own the basic classics like Sonic and Marvel Vs Capcom. Be sure you play this one come September 9 WOO HOO! Shenmue--Well, the game that everyone and their brother is drooling over has now bene played by yours truly. I now must go scream at the top of my lungs...WOOO HOOOO!!! Man I have enver in my lifetime seen a game that looks this good. There were several different demos at the show. One was the quick-time battle, similar to Dragon's Lair, as well as a little demonstration of how you actually have to make the character interact with everything. It was a small dart throwing demo that required you to steady the character's hand and throw the dart just right. It was incredible to say the least. Even only getting to play maybe 0.01% of this amazing game I can already tell it is going to be awesome. I cant wait until fall when this game is finally released, whew gaming doesnt get any better than this! Soul Calibur--OK, everyone knows that ZT is a huge HUGE fighting game purist right? Well in my decades of gaming I have never EVER seen a game that looks as good as Soul Calibur (except maybe Dead Or Alive 2, but its not out yet). OK so it looks good, so how does it play? Well if you were a fan of the original Soul Edge (or Soul Blade for US gamers) then you will pick up on this game really quick. The controls are basically the same with some added flare. There are several new characters and the stages are absolutely jaw-dropping. I could go on and on about this game for hours, but I wont. Rest assured though that this game looks even better than the arcade so watch out when this baby htis shelves this fall! Those are basically all of the big titles that I will talk about. I also got to attend the Acclaim party and sampled Trick Style and NFL Quarterback Club, they were pretty sweet. Other honorable mentions were House of the Dead 2, Vigilante 8 Second Offense, Get Bass with fishing controller, and Dynamite Deka 2 (which will be called Dynamite Cop 2 in the US). All of these games are awesome and I can not wait. When armageddon hits 9/9/99 WOO HOO!!! WATCH OUT!!! BABY!!! This is ZT sayin see-ya! |
