In the crowded world of racing games there is little room for new comers, especially ones on a next gen console that is supposidely going to bomb eh?? Well after finally playing Sega Rally 2 I can hardly say that anymore! This game is utterly amazing, its use of lighting effects and reflective surfacing is just incredible. One little detail that is awesome is the fact that the windshield and windows of the cars are reflective as well as transparent! The car physics are astounding and very responsive. The framrate is a steady 30-60 fps in one player mode and only slightly slows down in two player split screen. The pop-up is noticeable but not annoying like in some games. Sega Rally 2 is by far the best looking racing game on any console to date. The conversion from arcade to console this time has finally been done with some dignity, from this point it will have to be Dreamcast to Arcade conversions heehee. I have read several reviews of this game and they always focus on the bad aspects of the game just looking for a reason to bash Sega's new console but I must say that the Dreamcast is BY FAR the greatest and most powerful system in the world to date! With this in mind I bet you are wondering why couldn't Sega not do an arcade perfect translation? Well it was indeed rushed, while this is no excuse, there are some things better left alone. This game is great and deserves a place in every Dreamcast owners library and every racing game fans posession. Sega Rally 2 is going to blow players away when it hits shelves this fall!
